Our commitment
VenueWebStudio wants this site, and every venue website we build, to be usable by as many people as possible, including people using a screen reader, a keyboard only, voice control, magnification, or a phone in bright sunlight with one hand. Accessibility is treated as part of the build rather than an audit at the end.
Conformance target
We build against WCAG 2.2 AA as our working standard. We do not claim certified conformance, because conformance is a moving target on a site that publishes new content every week and no honest business can promise it permanently. What we can state is the standard we work to, the practices we apply, and what we do when something falls short.
What we build in
- Semantic HTML, so the structure of a page makes sense to a screen reader without relying on styling.
- One main heading per page and a heading order that does not skip levels.
- Text and interface colors checked against their backgrounds for contrast, in both the light and dark appearance of the site.
- A visible focus indicator on every interactive element, and full keyboard operation, including a visible close control on anything that opens over the page.
- Tap targets sized for a thumb, form fields large enough that a phone browser does not zoom on focus, and no horizontal scrolling at small widths.
- Descriptive alternative text on images that carry meaning, and decorative images hidden from assistive technology.
- Motion that honors the operating system reduced motion setting, with a static state that is complete rather than empty.
- An accessibility control on this site for font scaling, contrast, reduced motion and link highlighting.
Known limitations
Third-party content we embed, such as a scheduling calendar or a chat widget, is built by its provider and we do not control its markup. Where an embedded tool creates a barrier, we will say so and offer an alternative route, which on this site is always an email address and a form that works without it.
Sites we build for clients
Venue websites we build carry the same practices and ship with their own accessibility statement alongside a privacy policy, terms, and a cookie policy whose consent genuinely controls which scripts load. Accessibility work helps a venue meet its obligations to visitors; it is not legal advice and it is not a guarantee of compliance with any statute. A venue with a specific legal obligation should take advice from a qualified professional.
Telling us about a problem
If any part of this site is hard to use, email hello@venuewebstudio.com and tell us the page, what you were trying to do and what got in the way. Include the browser and assistive technology if you know them. We reply within one working day, Monday to Friday, and we treat an accessibility report as a fault rather than a feature request.
How this site is assessed
This site is checked by hand during the build and whenever a section changes: keyboard only, at small and large text sizes, in both light and dark appearance, and at phone, tablet and desktop widths. Automated checks catch part of the picture; the rest is checked by a person. This statement was last reviewed on the date shown at the top of this page.
